Training Climbs

August '04.- We set out From the Silver Dollar lakes trail head and climbed directly up to Argentine Peak (13,738') along the CDT and down into Horseshoe Basin. The next day we climbed Grays Peak (14,270') and descended the same route, trekked through the basin and climbed to a leg burning saddle (over 1000 ft elevation gain in less than a 1/4mi) back to Argentine Peak. In all we did over 25,000' of total elevation gain in 15 mi with 50+lb packs. Rob was sick with a head cold and suffered from bouts of vertigo in which he would fall over randomly, keeping Ken and Josh entertained.

April 05'- After a spring storm dumping 12"+ in the mountains Rob and Ken set out to climb Mt.Bierstadt (14,064') via the south ridge then traverse the Sawthooth Ridge to summit MT Evans (14,264'). What started out as a beautiful Colorado day turned into a massive wind storm with 60+ mph winds and whiteout conditions.

April '05- We set out to summit Bierstadt again this time via the north face, this time Alpine style (light and fast).  The weather was on our side all the way to the summit. As we descended on the Sawthooth we decided to turn back due to incoming storms and time constraints.
